B2 English for UK Settlement

From 26 March 2027, most settlement (ILR) applications will need B2 speaking and listening, up from B1. I help you reach that level with focused speaking and listening lessons, so you are ready well before you book your test.

Speaking practice: giving reasons, weighing both sides and linking your ideas, the skills that move you from B1 to B2
Listening practice at natural speed, including opinions, disagreement and meaning that is implied
Practice questions in the style of secure English language tests, so test day feels familiar
A weekly study plan built around the date you plan to apply

Who it is for

People who plan to apply for settlement (ILR) on or after 26 March 2027 and need to show B2 speaking and listening. It also suits new work visa applicants who need B2 in all four skills, and anyone with a B1 result who wants to move up a level.

How sessions work and your tutor

Each one hour session is held online over Zoom, Google Meet or the platform you prefer. You can book an individual session for support built around your weakest skills, or join a group session at a lower price. Individual sessions are £30 an hour instead of £40 until 31 October.

Your tutor: I am Ali, a UK university lecturer with a Cambridge CELTA and an MA in International Education and Development from the University of Sussex. I have taught English at UK colleges and universities for over 13 years.

Common Questions

Is B2 really needed from March 2027? For most settlement routes, applications made on or after 26 March 2027 need B2 speaking and listening. Rules can change, so check GOV.UK before you book anything.
How long will it take? Moving up one level usually takes around 200 hours of study. I will give you an honest estimate after the first session.
Can you tell me which test to book? The approved tests depend on your route, so check GOV.UK or a regulated immigration adviser. I can then help you prepare for the format.
Can I book a group session with friends? Yes. Message me with the dates that suit you.
